In accordance with the general arrangements for the national Quality Month campaign, on September 22nd, the national Organic Publicity Week event, hosted by cnca, was launched in Beijing. Cheng Fang, Deputy Director of cnca, attended the launch ceremony. Representatives from quality inspection departments, national organic certification demonstration zones, organic production and sales enterprises, certification bodies, scientific research institutes, news media, and consumers participated in this event. 文章源自FOFCC-http://www.fofcc.org.cn/en/11493/

cnca published the white paper "China Organic Industry Development Report" during the event, which is China's first white paper to comprehensively summarise and systematically study the overall development of the organic industry nationwide. 文章源自FOFCC-http://www.fofcc.org.cn/en/11493/

The white paper points out that the organic industry is an emerging sector with broad development prospects. It is an important pathway for developing modern agriculture, promoting ecological civilisation, achieving harmony between humanity and nature, and ensuring sustainable development. Over the past 20 years, China's organic industry has developed rapidly, providing consumers with a large volume of high-quality, safe and healthy food and agricultural products, reducing pollution to the ecological environment and the consumption of non-renewable resources, increasing farmers' incomes, and achieving sound economic, social and ecological benefits. By the end of 2013, China had a total certified organic production area of 2.722 million hectares, with 7,894 organic product production enterprises, 6,628 organic production bases, and 3,910 organic processing plants. Organic products cover four major categories: plants, animals, aquatic products and processed items, and a cumulative total of approximately 10,000 organic product certificate certificates have been issued. The annual sales of organic products in China amount to approximately 20-30 billion yuan, making it the world's 4th largest consumer of organic products. 文章源自FOFCC-http://www.fofcc.org.cn/en/11493/

Relevant data shows that, following the establishment of cnca, it actively fulfilled its government regulatory duties, formulated and promulgated a series of regulations, administrative rules and technical specifications, and established a national organic product certification system. In recent years, it has successively revised and issued standards and technical specifications such as the national standard for “Organic Products”, the "Implementation Rules for Organic Product Certification", and the "Measures for the Administration of Organic Product Certification", implementing whole-process management on the cultivation, breeding, production, packaging, certification, sales and inputs of organic products, and applying "one product, one code" organic code traceability management to organic products, thereby steering China's organic industry onto a path of standardised and legalised development. 文章源自FOFCC-http://www.fofcc.org.cn/en/11493/

At the event, the new media platform for organic product certification, the “Organic Micro Life” mobile app and WeChat platform, was officially launched. Targeting the steadily growing mobile device user base, the app publishes authoritative information on organic products. Users can leverage this platform to quickly authenticate organic products via QR code scanning, manual entry of the “organic code” and other methods, and obtain consumer guidance information regarding organic products, thereby resolving the issue of information asymmetry for consumers caused by a lack of convenient identification methods. 文章源自FOFCC-http://www.fofcc.org.cn/en/11493/

At the event ceremony, appointment letters were also presented to the voluntary supervisors of organic product certification. 文章源自FOFCC-http://www.fofcc.org.cn/en/11493/

The “Organic Promotion Week” campaign is a promotional and service event designed to implement the requirements of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China regarding accelerating the development of modern agriculture and vigorously advancing ecological civilisation construction, and it is also a key activity project of the 2014 national “Quality Month”. The main purpose is to popularise organic knowledge among the general public, comprehensively showcase the implementation achievements of China's organic product certification system, and promote the healthy development of the organic industry. During the “Organic Promotion Week” campaign, regions across the country will intensively organise and carry out a series of activities, including public welfare initiatives such as “organic products entering communities and campuses”, organic base visits and experiential tours, expert consultation services on organic knowledge, and supervision and inspection of organic product production and sales enterprises.文章源自FOFCC-http://www.fofcc.org.cn/en/11493/
